Start conversations

    Networking

Face-to-face interaction with prospective customers, clients, partners, and industry leaders is by far the best way to generate rapport and build working relationships that may be beneficial in the future.

Like customers, networking with partners is ideally done face to face. The Scandinavian Maritime Fair offers an opportunity not only to speak with existing partners but to start conversations with other businesses that may be ideal partners in the future.

The Scandinavian Maritime Fair is a market for relations

Networking is a biggie, no matter which industry you’re in. Growing your audience means growing your business, and attending an exhibition helps with that. Standing out from the crowd and getting your voice heard can be challenging, and, if you’re trying to get new clients with just cold calling and emails, for example, you may find yourself being ignored.

Meeting someone face-to-face, however, it’s another matter. A trade show allows you to meet with a potential customer and connect with them and, while some people will buy your products during the exhibition, others won’t – but they may be a lot more responsive to your sales pitch once they know you.

    Finalize the deal

    Ink on the dotted line

While this is not always the case, you may also have the opportunity to sell to your target market during an exhibition or trade show. When you have a gathering of people already interested in the products and services you provide – and looking for great deals, which are often found in these types of events – it’s easier to sell to them.

Compare that with emailing a Purchasing Manager or speaking to them on the phone, for example; they’re likely to have responsibilities to deal with and may not be as interested as they are when attending an exhibition in their field.

    What others say

The LH2 Project had a booth at the Danish Maritime Fair in the spring of 2022. We were able to share our exciting project, centering around the feasibility of using liquid H2 as a fuel source in a marine environment, with a wide variety of marine industry companies and individuals. The networking opportunities were plentiful, and we managed to not only discuss our project but to learn about new technologies and to meet companies we hadn’t thought to speak to before. It was a great event, and we look forward to the next one!

It is our mission is to undertake education within the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Danish Maritime Authority. To us, it is not enough to follow the changing in rules and regulations, we also need to follow the change in the work environment, for which we are preparing our students.

As a highly specialized education center within the marine sector, it is important for us to be in close contact with the industries we serve. In cooperation with SIMAC (Svendborg International Maritime Academy), we are participating in the fair, and we expect to renew old acquaintances and make new ones, for mutual benefits.
